Apple announced refreshed Mac Studio and Mac mini lineups today, and buried in the usual "faster, thinner, more colors" press cycle is a spec that matters a lot more to this site's audience than to the average buyer: the new M5 Ultra Mac Studio scales all the way up to 512GB of unified memory. That's not a typo, and it's not a number Apple usually needs to reach for gaming or video editing. What was actually announced
Two separate lineups got updates. Standard configurations of both start shipping September 22, 2026 - but the 512GB Mac Studio specifically doesn't ship until late October, about two months after today's announcement.
